Ting, Co-Founder VentureX

Project Name: VentureX

Project Stage: Pre-Launch

Participating Team Members: The Two Co-Founders

Average Time to Complete: Approximately 2 hours/day

Time Saved: Maybe 50-70%

Main Problem Otherstate Helped With: It forced us to focus on questions we needed to answer. Talk through key ideas around who our customers are, what our values are, etc.

Venture X Results

During the 5 days with Otherstate, the two co-founders took VentureX from high-level to in-depth detail. Step-by-step, always building off the information we already collected in previous modules. These are the results.

DAY 1:
PROLOGUE | NEED NARRATIVE | VISION

  • Prologue: a high-level outline of why VentureX exists, what it does, and how it's positioned. We assembled the results into The Map to Your Future.

  • Need Narrative. The matter-of-fact description of VentureX in clear words. It tells the story of why its product or service is needed in the market place.

  • The founders refined inputs from the prologue exercise. We used them to craft the raw vision for VentureX.

DAY 2:
THEORY OF CHANGE

  • In this exercise the founders reverse-engineered their raw vision to the current state of VentureX.

  • Theory of Change: a step-by-step description of the path VentureX can take from its current state to its desired future state – the founder's vision.

  • This exercise fills the gap between now and the future with actionable, operative steps.

DAY 3:
CORE & BENEFIT STATEMENT

  • Core Statement: the emotive core of VentureX – its personality. These soft values help connect the project to the hearts & minds of VentureX's community.

  • Benefit Statements: how VentureX will improve its user's lives. The founders worked on up to 3 benefit statements that speak directly to the desires of the VentureX community.

  • The combined results of day 1–3 were used to create VentureX's Vision, Mission, Benefit Statements, Core Statement, Value Proposition and the founders Elevator Pitch.

DAY 4:
USER AVATAR

  • One detailed user avatar that represents a key segment of VentureX's community. The profile they created shows VentureX's community’s demographics and psychographics, including a complete Big 5 personality score for their users.

  • They can use the results of this module to dial in their product, messaging & design.

DAY 5:
COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

  • Competitive Landscape: brands that are competing for the attention of VentureX's users.

  • The founders identified VentureX's immediate and adjacent competition, their strengths and weaknesses. Then mapped out what makes them attractive to VentureX's users and what differentiators to concentrate on.

  • They can use these results to understand how VentureX is different from the competition and how to win the space.

Compiled Results:
Asset Templates

  • After completing the 5–day program MetaDip and his co-founder received a complete set of pre-filled asset templates for Metso.

  • These allowed them to fast-track the creation of a website or landing page, pitch-deck, business model canvas, and a designer brief.

Optional Add-On:
Visual Identity

  • The VentureX team dropped their favourite visual artefacts on the provided Client Boards and told us what they liked about them.

  • We sorted their images and curated 2 boards (number of boards depends input).

  • They choose & approved 1 visual direction.

  • According to their approved board we created the components for their brand’s visual identity: 1 logo, a color scheme, typography, suggested imagery or mockups and tied it all together in their brand identity guidelines.
